The total station instrument combines three basic components, an electronic theodolite (transit) which measures only angles, an EDMI (electronic distance measuring instrument) which measures only distances, and a computer or microprocessor, into one integrated unit.
We recommend the Leica TS02 Flexline as a quality entry level instrument. It has a potential maximum range of up to 6,000'-12,000' to a prism depending upon the conditions. The TS02 Power and the TS02 Ultra have reflectorless capabilities; the Power has a potential maximum range of 330'-1310', while the Ultra has a potential maximum range of 990'-3280'.
