Crash Data Retrieval Accessories
CDR (Crash Data Retrieval) Re-powering rigs
Our product is in use in 16 U.S. States, 3 Canadian Provinces, and the Grand Cayman Islands.
The best practice for obtaining crash data from a vehicle's event data recorder (EDR) is through the data link connector (DLC) typically mounted under the dash. In many instances when conducting vehicle crash data retrieval (CDR), a vehicle's electrical system has been compromised. Alternatively, the ignition may be damaged or there might not be an ignition key available.

In the past a CDR Technician would be left with no option other than to connect directly to the module. The use of a repowering rig allows the CDR Technician to supply a source of 12-volts directly to the airbag control module. This allows the technician to still image the module through the DLC.

1. The use of this method significantly increases your chances of imaging a module via the DLC.
2. It lessens the potential of adding/overwriting airbag related diagnostic trouble codes (DTC).
3. It allows for imaging when you might not have the correct direct-to-module cable.
4. With this method you do not need an ignition key.

Note: This method will not work for re-powering power-train control modules (PCM).

Note: The instructions included here are basic instructions and are no substitution for proper CDR Technician training.  Technical support and further instructions will only be provided to those individuals who have successfully completed CDR Technician Level II training provided by an approved Trainer/Mentor.

Basic Instructions
1. Connect the alligator clip (black wire) to a good vehicle ground
2. Replace the ACM fuse with the appropriate size fuse block adaptor
3. Connect the spade connector (red wire) to one side of the fuse block adaptor.  You have a 50/50 chance of being on the correct side and may have to switch to the other side if necessary.
4. At the appropriate time place the plug into a source of 12-volt DC power.  This step is the same as turning on the ignition key.
5. Image the ACM as per Bosch CDR Software and CDR Technician Training instructions.

Your Price: $30.00
Crash Data Retrieval (CDR) Re-powering rig
The 12-volt plug contains one 10 amp fuse.  The kit comes with an inline fuse rated at 7.5 amp fuse and it should not be replaced with a larger size fuse.

The kit includes a set of two fuse block adaptors which will fit Mini and  ATO automotive fuse sockets.  The Maxi (large one) shown is not included in the kit as there is no passenger vehicle application for its use.

Each re-powering rig is tested during the final steps of the assembly process.

Note: The 12-volt booster pack shown in the photograph above is not included.  You must supply your own 12-volt source of power.
