David V. Heinbaugh, ACTAR, has been awarded Full Accreditation as a Traffic Accident Reconstructionist by the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction (ACTAR #1817). He has 14+ years of experience in Traffic Collision Investigation and Reconstruction. He is a lead investigator for a large Northern California county accident call out team. He has investigated more than 1200 traffic collisions during this time. He has qualified as an expert in the area of accident reconstruction and forensic mapping in multiple California Superior Courts and civil depositions.
David has been using the total station as a reconstruction tool for the past 12+ years, starting with the Sokkia Set 5a total station, the SDR33 data collector, and Micro Station 5000 CAD Program. He has over 700 hours of general traffic collision investigation training, with an additional 400+ hours of forensic mapping/CAD drawing training. Since 1992, David has been a certified as a Forensic Mapping Specialist both with Leica and Sokkia total station systems.David has experience using the Sokkia Set 5a and Leica FMS 307 & 407 total stations, Sokkia SDR33 and TDS Recon & Ranger data collectors, and various CAD programs including Micro Station 5000, AutoSketch Ver7, MapScenes Pro, Pocket Zone and Crash Zone.David is a member of the California Association of Reconstruction Specialists (CAARS) where he currently serves on the Board of Directors, the Accident Reconstruction Network (ARC), and the Professional Society of Forensic Mapping (PSFM).
